DONATION OPPORTUNITIES

All donations to ALS of Michigan remain in Michigan to help pALS and their families. Your generosity will provide loans of adaptive equipment, in-home care, speech therapy and speech devices, transportation assistance, support groups, seminars and other services for pALS and their loved ones. Due to the generosity our supporters, donors and sponsors, all of our services are offered to our ALS Michigan community at no charge EVER, making living with ALS easier.

ALS of Michigan is a recognized 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Scroll down to read about the impact our services have on the ALS community.

Privacy Practices
ALS of Michigan only collects information that is supplied by the donor. This information is never shared outside of our organization and is only used internally by ALS of Michigan for its fund development initiatives. A donor has the right to be removed from any and all lists maintained by the organization.

All donations made by credit card on our online donation platform are made through a secure transaction network, and none of the credit card information is transmitted to ALS of Michigan. All credit card information provided to us directly (not through our online donation platform) is destroyed once the donation transaction is completed.

PALS AND FAMILIES SERVED

ALS of Michigan provided critically-needed programs and services to pALS and families, all at no charge. On average, over 400 individuals were on service at any given time in over 50 counties across Michigan.

Our professional social work staff provided outreach, emotional support, education, home visits, transportation assistance and referrals to community resources.

SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS

Support group meetings were held several times a month via Zoom to provide a supportive environment where pALS, family members, and caregivers could discuss and share their experiences with ALS.

COMMUNICATION NEEDS SUPPORTED

pALS who needed help communicating were served by our speech pathologist through our Augmentative and Alternative Communication Center. Services included evaluation of needs, recommendations of equipment and specialized training.

in-home care HOURS FUNDED

Our Respite Care Assistance Program funded in-home care for over 100 pALS and their caregivers at a cost of nearly $110,000. This service was provided by more than 55 separate home healthcare agencies across Michigan.

Equipment loans and shipments

A variety of medical equipment was loaned to pALS including ramps, transport wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, communication devices, hoyer lifts and more. We also shipped hundreds of items across the state including bedside tables, wheelchair cushions, walkers, bathing and toileting items and other supplies that made living with ALS easier.

Seminars and Caregiver events

Special presentations on home care, estate planning, coping with life challenges, hospice care and making your home more accessible were hosted for pALS and their families. Our Conversations with Caregivers series provided a comfortable and casual setting to help ease the stress on those caring for a pALS.
ALS of Michigan also funded social workers to staff the Henry Ford Harry J. Hoenselaar ALS Clinic and provided supplies for pALS served there and at the University of Michigan ALS Center of Excellence. Supplies included adaptive eating utensils, cervical collars and more.

Matching gifts


Many companies offer a "Matching Gifts" program where they will match donations their employees make to charitable organizations. This is a wonderful, very simple and effective, way to double - sometimes even triple - your contributions to ALS of Michigan!

Volunteer Opportunities


We need your help! By volunteering at our office or one of our events, you can help build awareness and spread our message of help and hope. Nearly 100 individuals volunteer with us each year to join in our mission of helping our pALS live life as fully as possible.
